Producing a newspaper on "East Grinstead during the Blitz" - an activity for Year 5/6 |
| Aim of the activity |
| The pupils, either as small groups or as a whole
class, will produce two front pages for an East Grinstead newspaper reporting
on the two separate attacks on the town involving the Sainsbury's store. The
first, a raid by a solo bomber, took place on 9th July 1943 and
resulted in the death of two Sainsbury's workers and the partial destruction of
the store. The second was a V1 flying bomb (or Doodlebug) which landed near
the store on 11th July 1944.
