Study 3a. Victorian Britain

The lives of men, women and children at different levels of society, in Britain, and the ways in which they were affected by changes in industry and transport e.g. economic growth and the provision of jobs for men and women, the impact of railways on everyday life, domestic service, family life at different levels of society etc.

7. Across the Key Stage, pupils should be given opportunities to study:

Pupils recognise the distinction between present and past in their own and other people’s lives. They show their emerging sense of chronology by sequencing a few events and objects... They are beginning to find answers to questions about the past from sources of information.

Pupils show their developing sense of chronology ... by making distinctions between aspects of their own lives and past times. They answer questions about the past, from sources of information, on the basis of simple observations.

Pupils demonstrate factual knowledge and understanding of aspects of the history of Britain and other countries, drawn from Key Stage 2 programme of study.
