this century, partly because they have shifted from being dietary staples.
Comparing the one type of cheddar that was available in Sainsbury’s
stores with the huge variety of cheddars that can be found today is
particularly difficult: November 2001 prices ranged from £1.31 per lb for
Economy cheddar to over £5.00 for 'Taste the Difference' cheddars.
